Playgrounds
Depends on where you are staying during your vacation, you will choose the playground that it is closer to your hotel. Are you staying to: Agia Varvara, Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero, Aigaleo, Haidari, Ilion, Peristeri or Petroupoli? Then, below you will find your nearby playgrounds of western Attica to inhale fresh air in the middle of the city. There are only 4, but large ones.

Diomedes Botanical Garden
Address: Iera Odos 401, PC 12461, Chaidari. 9km from Syntagma square. 20min by car and 30min by public transport.
To clarify, it is the largest botanical garden in the Eastern Mediterranean. Most importantly, it has many species of fauna and flora in its 1,86km2.
Bonus
Besides the ornamental or edible plants and the giant water lilies from the 2 lakes, it has many historic plants. To the left of the Main Entrance is the Department of Historic Plants of the Garden. This section is not found in any other Botanical Garden in the world. It hosts species that are mentioned in Ancient Greek mythology as involved in various myths or as dedicated to the gods. There are even species that ancient writers, botanical or not, reported that our ancestors used for various purposes as well as plants mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments. Also, pay a visit to the greenhouse to see the plants of wet rainforests and succulents or the sugar canes and the insectivores.
Do not forget the fauna. You can see many foxes, hares, ferrets, partridges, owls, turtles, frogs and several species of freshwater fish and many more.

Antonis Tritsis Park
Address: Spyrou Moustakli 23, PC 13122, Ilion. 8,7km from Syntagma. 25min by car or 45min by public transport.
In short, inside the park, there are a children’s playground, a café, a riding center and a gym. Also, at the entrance there is a reptile center with collections of reptiles from different parts of the world. Additionally, here is a lending library within the park that specializes in environment, greenery and landscape architecture. Furthermore, you will find two churches and three different open-air theaters, while in specific parts of the park you will find interesting wood carvings.
Subsequently, I am quite sure that kids will be thrilled with the duck pond and the vast grass for running. You can also organize a picnic at the offered tables under the cool shade of the trees.

9 Muses playground
Address: 18 Panagi Tsaldari Ave., PC 12132, Peristeri. 5,5km from Syntagma. 22min by car or 30min by public transport.
In short, there is a large prototype bioclimatic regeneration playground with modern and safe toys next to the 2 fountains. Moreover, there is an outdoor gym with exercise and wellness machines for all ages.

Peristeri Grove
Address: Agiou Vassiliou 63, PC 12135, Peristeri (opposite the Peristeri Exhibition Center). 7km from Syntagma. 30min by car or 25min by public transport.
The children’s playground is fenced with railings to separate it from the rest of the park and has shade from tall poplars, while guests can relax in the outdoor seating area. Eucalyptus, plane trees, logs, olives, locusts, cypresses, weeping willows, acacias, lemon cypresses, oranges, figs, lemons,… are some of the trees that you will surely recognize. In addition, another playground has been created within the grove, which is aimed at younger children and is located on the bike path.
